Travel Information

Lodging

We have a limited number of on-campus rooms in the Avent Ferry Complex (AFC) that we will reserve upon request. These rooms are free of charge for interested applicants. If you choose to stay in an on-campus room ground transportation will be provided to various locations.

You also have the option to stay with a current student host.

Hosts are current students in the program who have agreed to open their homes to give prospective students an insider’s view of NCSU and the Higher Education program, as well as a place to sleep and ground transportation around the Triangle area. Hosts will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, so please indicate on the information sheet if you would like to be hosted by a current student.

Transportation

We will provide transportation to and from RDU International Airport. There will be two pick up times. The first pick up time is 1:00 pm and the second is at 8:00 pm on [what day(s)].  If you are driving to Raleigh, please refer to http://www.ncsu.edu/student_center/driving_directions.html for driving directions to the Talley center. For driving directions to AFC, please refer to Google Maps During the weekend, ground transportation will be provided to various events.

Arrival/Departure

Please plan to arrive Thursday night if traveling from a distance, as the program begins at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, February 13, 2009. Closing remarks will be at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 14th. After closing remarks some candidates may have second round interviews, which will last until 12:30 p.m. Please plan accordingly in the event that you receive a second round interview. If you are flying please do not plan to leave any earlier than 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2009. Optional Tours of Duke, UNC Chapel Hill, NCSU will be provided on Saturday for those interested in touring the Triangle area.

Attire

Recruitment weekend is the opportunity to make your first professional impression on potential assistantship employers as well as faculty of our program. Plan to dress in business attire on Friday and business casual for Saturday. Saturday's schedule includes a tour; therefore, comfortable shoes are recommended.
