The North Carolina State University Higher Education Administration program is dedicated to developing the future innovators and leaders of higher education. M.Ed in Higher Education

The Master of Education degree with a specialization in Student Affairs or Organization and Management is designed for entering and experienced educators who seek advanced professional preparation for managing and administering student support services in higher educational environments. This program blends a broad overview of the history and function of American higher education with specific focus on the unique characteristics of Student Affairs. Practical application is emphasized within coursework and required internship and research experiences. Individuals completing this master's program will have sufficient professional knowledge and skill for entry or advancement in student affairs positions in postsecondary institutions as well as allied positions with governmental agencies and public service organizations that involve education.

College & University Leadership M.S.

The Master of Science degree with a specialization in Organization and Administration is designed for experienced educators who seek advanced professional preparation for researching, managing, and administering programs and services in colleges and universities.

This program offers several unique opportunities to engage in a core body of knowledge and process as well as advanced study in aspects of higher education administration. The program builds upon theories and concepts that are based on research and practice. It links the theoretical and conceptual foundations of administration and leadership to management decisions that must be addressed by administrators in colleges and universities. Individuals completing this master's program will have sufficient professional knowledge and skill for entry or advancement in colleges and universities as well as positions with governmental agencies and public service organizations that involve education. For those individuals making a career change, internships and other professional experiences should be integrated into the program of study.

Higher Education Administration Ed.D.

The Doctor of Education degree in Higher Education Administration is designed for entering and experienced educators who seek advanced professional preparation for managing and administering programs and services in colleges and universities. Students who are interested in higher education leadership may specialize in either community or technical college leadership, leadership at four-year institutions or student affairs. The specializations are designed for entering and experienced educators who seek advanced professional preparation for managing, administering, and leading community and technical colleges, four-year colleges and universities and student services. The program in higher education links theoretical and conceptual concepts to the day-to-day management decisions that must be addressed by successful leaders in colleges and universities. Most of the courses in the program are offered once a week during the late afternoon or evening hours. Some courses are available in the summer sessions and through distance education technologies.
